Toronto World Cup Fandom
Since 2006, and every four years since, I’ve been photographing fans in and around Toronto cheering on their home countries during the World Cup. In those 20 years (5 tournaments), I’ve found fans from 55 different countries. I am looking to find even more this summer!
It’s purely a passion project that I started as a dare to myself: to try and find all 32 teams in the 2006 World Cup. I got hooked, and haven’t wanted to stop since. With the next tournament less than two months away, I’m getting pretty excited. I don’t know, I think hosting has something to do with it.
Follow the World Cup Countdown on Instagram
Also, I’ve spent the last 300 days sharing a daily photo from the project on Instagram counting down the year until the start of the 2026 World Cup. I’ve got almost no followers, so don’t worry; you won’t be jumping on a bandwagon by joining this late, there is plenty of room. You can see a screenshot of all the great photos below with photos from 162 to 122 in the countdown.
