When I met Mike and Stephanie about their wedding photography, they mentioned they were interested in doing a Star Trek inspired engagement shoot. It was at that moment I knew I wanted to be their photographer. This kind of thing has been done before many times, the T-Rex shoot is one of the best examples, but it was my first time and I was super excited. Mike and Stephanie came up with the location, University of Toronto, and decided they would like to be facing the ST:TNG Enterprise and supplied me with a decently high-resolution image. The key though was, they wanted the CN Tower in the photo to show it was in Toronto. The rest was up to me. We actually shot this on an overcast day in October, not a particularly nice day, soggy and kind of raining. The original photo I took is below.
This juxtaposes the two photos. You’ll see the final photo is larger, both wider and taller, I expanded the building on the right from another horizontal photo I had taken in the shoot.
As far as the sky, I took it from this photo I took at Petra in Joran in 2012 and made the larger sky photo below.
One final thing to point out is that I decided to replace the CN Tower itself with another photo I had taken years ago illuminated at night. It worked much better in the image.
Man, what a fun shoot. We also got loads of other great photos. I’m posting a few of them below.
